Repairing Shattered Lives: Brain injury and its implications for criminal justice

What are the links between brain injury and offending? This report provides an overview of developments in understanding of traumatic brain injury in relation to crime, with a particular focus on its impact on developmental maturity. It shows that people with brain injuries are overrepresented in prison, and that brain injury is associated with, spending more time in custody.
