Could courts do more to reduce reoffending among young adults aged 18 to 25? Citing the experience of young people at magistrates’ courts, this report suggests how to implement and test new approaches to cases of young adult defendants in criminal courts in England and Wales. It identifies significant areas of the system that have failed to recognise young adults’ distinct needs, including their treatment by the courts, and suggests how the process can be improved.
