Care and Criminal Justice: Bridging the Chasm

Focus, aim and purpose of work: To achieve evidence-based policy change to support care leavers with experience of the criminal justice system

This is a new project on policy focused campaign activities. In addition the Care Leavers Association (CLA) will undertake action based research on the needs of both female and black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) care leavers in the CJS. The CLA will continue its work understanding the landscape and identifying good practice taking place working with local agencies identifying the barriers blocking change and looking to embed good practice long term. This project will inform CLA’s policy positions and campaigning model beyond the lifetime of the project, providing the CLA with a refreshed supporter network and narrative material.
