Restorative Justice

Restorative practices should be used to develop maturity…

Restorative practices should be used to develop maturity and facilitate desistance among young adults who commit crime. Restorative practice strengthens the relationships between people and between people and communities, it focuses on easing conflict by repairing the harm that has been done. Evidence shows that restorative justice can be as effective an intervention for young adults as it is for those who are under 18.

T2A recommends that restorative justice should be considered for all young adult offenders at all stages of the criminal justice process, including pre-arrest, pre-sentence, and as part of a sentence.
